Journeyperson Welder
Job Description
The Journeyperson Welder is responsible for operating welding equipment to repair and/or fabricate tank structures at our client’s location. This role travels across the country to different client sites and reports to the on-site CT&V Project Manager or Superintendent for that site. Shifts schedule changes depending on our client (8 to 12 hours/day). The welder must meet all site requirements before being deployed to the site.
Job Duties:
- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
- Operate submerged arc welding equipment
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
- Perform or assist with fit-up and preparation of welds
- Ensuring all safety paperwork is filled out daily
- Perform job while at heights and/or in confined spaces
- Perform job while kneeling, squatting, and/or frequent bending
- Pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds (eg: welding machines, hose, wire, etc)
Qualifications:
- Safety-first mindset.
- API 650/653 Tank Building and/or Repair experience, preferred
- FCAW / SMAW - CWB all position tickets
- Journeyperson or 2nd / 3rd year welding apprentice
- SAW (3 O’clock/LT7 Goat) experience, an asset
- WHMIS2015 Certification
- H2S Alive Certification, an asset
- Fall Protection Certification, an asset
- CSTS or SCOTT or CSO Certification
- Confined Space Certification, an asset
- Areal Work Platform (AWP) Certification, an asset
- Pre-employment and pre-access drug and alcohol testing (as per client’s requirements)
